Yomiko Readman Lives Here

INSANE Book Store 1 (SALEM, MA)

I came across this picture of a rather insane book store earlier today and it immediately reminded me of the residence of a certain Yomiko Readman of “Read or Die” fame. The similarities are striking but goodness knows how they get away with the health and safety aspect of having thousands of books stacked this way 😉

The film and tv series are well worth watching; of course, reading the manga would be even better! More pictures of the crazy shop can be found here.

In unrelated news, I’ll be starting my rather rigorous jet-lag avoidance experiment tomorrow whereby I’ll be getting up and going to bed an hour earlier, progressively each day pushing my body clock closer to Korea time (GMT +9). By Friday I should be getting up at 2 am, ouch!! If you’re in the UK, enjoy the bank holiday tomorrow!

Wow! That's amazing! Where is the book shop? I really want to go there now ^_^ in fact, I think I want to live there too! >_ Your jet lag experiment sounds really quite cunning, will we be getting updates of how it progresses throughout the week?

  5. Hi Dana, I'm still in the UK, off to Korea tomorrow though! I went to an exhibition about Japanese Art at the British museum on the bank holiday – http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk/whats_on/all_… – it was quite good! Hope all is well with you 🙂

    Derby Square Bookstore
215 Essex St Salem MA 01970

I shop at this bookstore frequently. I have on several occasions knocked down stacks of books and had to be rescued as I was knee deep in books. This is part of the charm and the guys who run the place are never annoyed because they expect it to happen. They know where everything is and will order it if they don’t have it.

    1. Thanks for the tip Alexandra! Great to know where this place actually is 🙂
