Since moving to Hong Kong at the beginning of 2011 I’ve been slowly building a bigger picture of this multifaceted metropolis and the people who live here – it’s been a fascinating year and undoubtedly one of the best. In the first since 2010’s instalment of this series here are some more Hong Kong Moments – from dusk till dusk.
![Cheung Chau Sunset](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6350420670_f434c1424b_b.jpg)
Arriving late in the afternoon at Cheung Chau island I was almost running to catch the sunset but just missed it.
![Enveloped](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6349670337_07ec6643b7_b.jpg)
The area around Nam Koo Terrace in Wan Chai is particularly creepy and purportedly haunted!
![Towngas](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6326058526_c65cf36ecf_b.jpg)
Towngas doesn’t want people stealing its pipes.
![Yellow Gas](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6146724547_9e1c645a28_b.jpg)
While British Gas may prefer a blue hue, in Hong Kong the supply is decidedly more yellow.
![Yellow Skyscraper](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6349666607_493ccd70a7_b.jpg)
I suspect this particular skyscraper looks better with its clothes on than off.
![No.1 Elections](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6325749624_e09a76591e_b.jpg)
Every 4 years Hong Kong gets pretty worked up with local elections although the positions hold little real power.
![Pasted](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6147271780_5df67921c5_b.jpg)
About all they can do is move street lights and clean up flyposting.
![Spare Parts](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6349663247_9fb76b3536_b.jpg)
How mechanics ever find anything in this car repair shop I can’t imagine.
![Typographic Van](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6146727223_d580a01619_b.jpg)
Chinese typography can be quite impactful and I liked the colour contrasts on this truck.
![No Dumping](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6350411376_6d9b478b73_b.jpg)
“No dumping of refuse or junk in public place. Offenders will be prosecuted”.
![Corner Sign](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6350418980_db7fd33788_b.jpg)
I have no idea what this sign says but also liked the Klingon-esqe typography of the Chinese characters.

Get your sun-dried organic bats on a stick here…
![Lazy Cat](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6174845815_2f5b833979_b.jpg)
…possibly caught by this contented-looking cat in Sheung Wan.
![MINI](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6350414060_5bb3008c93_b.jpg)
A MINI espresso brought to you curtsy of Starbucks, everyone’s favourite virus-like franchise.
![Skyline GT](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6405258281_d7512afbb2_b.jpg)
A classic Nissan Skyline GT clings precariously to the steep incline of Aberdeen Street looking rather out-of-place.
![Blue & Yellow Stipes](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6325353135_dfed8aaa7f_b.jpg)
Without the colourful strips, the Wah Fu pubic housing estate near Pok Fu Lam would look like a prison.
![Sunset](https://randomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr_backup/6325756806_f09692ca13_b.jpg)
And last but not least dusk below the towers of the Bel-Air residence at Cyberport. Lots more soon I promise!
