While in Atlanta last month I stayed at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center which had a balcony with wonderful views overlooking the Centennial Olympic Park. Even though I was jet lagged out of my 13-hour-difference mind I managed to stay awake long enough to grab some nice shots on two consecutive nights…


I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sunset rainbow before – with the fading sunlight reflecting off the glass windows opposite it was a particularly beautiful moment.

On the second night, I attached the camera to the balcony railings using my GorillaPod and took some shots using manual exposure. I was pleased with how the photo below with the sparkling skyscrapers and glowing roads turned out – no post-production adjustment was needed.

The hotel itself was pretty decent, I especially enjoyed having breakfast brought to my door each morning (American-style bagels and blueberry muffins)! Tip: Sign up for their loyalty program to get free wi-fi and save yourself $10 a night.
