Rarely Used Cliches

Are you ever stuck for words or in need of a way out of a tricky conversation? Not any more – the ‘Self-Annihilating Sentences‘ web list is the perfect get-out clause which will instantly put an end to any argumentative or stagnant discourse! Here are a few of my favorites:

“I feel a lot more like I do now than I did when I came in.
The future isn’t what it used to be.
If there’s anything I can’t stand, it’s intolerance.
A little pain never hurt anyone.
If he were alive today, he’d turn over in his grave.
When I want your opinion, I’ll tell you what to say.
Like everybody else, I’m different.
Only variables remain constant.
No one goes there anymore; it’s too crowded.
To distinguish the real from the unreal one must experience both.”

It’s good to see that the staff in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania spend their time well! Coincidentally the list is almost as old as I am so they’ve had a fair few years to work on it since then!
