Pompeii

Yesterday we visited the ancient remains of Pompeii which was covered in ash when Vesuvius last had a major eruption. It was quite an amazing place and it almost felt like stepping back in time considering the huge scale of the site and how well preserved it was.

Today with took a bus to the local town of Positano and then from there we had a boat trip to Amalfi. It’s quite incredible how houses are built around here clinging to the sides of very steep hills and stacked on top of one another – I’m pretty sure none of them would pass building regulations back in England!

I write this whilst sitting on the terrace of our apartment overlooking the sea – it’s really rather nice!
