Coup d’état

So last Tuesday (19th) I was chatting with a friend in Bangkok, around exactly the same time that Thai Army tanks rolled in and blocked off traffic to the government headquarters, thereby staging a coup, overthrowing the PM (who wasn’t even in the country). Anywhere else you might have expected at least moderate bloodshed but not here…

…just another day out with the family! Funnily enough, the ex-PM, Thaksin, was spotted later in the week shopping in London – I guess he won’t be going home any time soon! I’m not going to even pretend to understand the politics of Thailand, I’ll leave it to the discerning reader to read up on if you’re so inclined 😉
